The Purdue Boilerman is one of the last races in the region. Its date allows for racers to train all summer and have their fastest race, while still being early enough to take advantage of fantastic weather. The event is perfect for the seasoned athlete competing for personal bests, or the beginner triathlete wishing for a new challenge!
Boilerman is a traditional Olympic Distance triathlon:
1500 Meter open water swim
40 Kilometer Bike
10 Kilometer Run
The race will take place at Rainy Brook Bay: 1242 W 500 S. Lafayette, IN 47909.
There will be a $5 race day price increase.
This is a USA Triathlon Sanctioned event. At packet pick-up you must show an ID, and if you are a USAT member, you must bring and show your USAT card. If you are not a USAT member, you must purchase a USAT 1-day membership for $15. Online registration is set up to purchase one for you if you are not a USAT member. If you are a USAT member, but you do not bring your USAT card to packet pickup, you must purchase a 1-day membership to compete.
Course:
Swim - The swim is an open water swim held in Rainy Brook Bay. Historically the swim has been wetsuit legal, but this cannot be confirmed until the day before the race. A swim cap will be provided.
Bike: The bike course consists of an out and back course through the surrounding area of Lafayette.
Run: The run will be a dual loop course around the venue's lake and surrounding neighborhood
If you have not done so already, please familiarize yourself with the course maps. Each racer is responsible for knowing the course. We will have police and volunteers stationed on the course, but you should know the general layout. Both the bike and the run courses will be marked with cones at major turn points. Spray paint will also be used for the bike course, while neon duct tape will be used for the run course. Police officers will be directing traffic at major intersections along the bike course, and volunteers will be stationed to point you in the right direction. However, please be aware of your surroundings at all times, in that no roads will be completely closed for this race.

Parking:
There will NOT be parking available at the race site (1242 W 500 S, Lafayette, IN 47909). The area available to us around the lake is too small to accommodate everyone for parking. Thus, we've reserved the parking lot at McCutcheon High School for all participants, fans, and volunteers. The school address is 4951 Old US Highway 231 South, Lafayette, Indiana 47909. This is approximately a mile and a half away from the transition. We will have two large passenger vans to take participants and small gear to and from the Race Course and parking lot. These vans will NOT have room to store bikes. Racers are to drop off bikes at Transition using temporary parking space at the race site/roadside or ride their bikes to the course.
Recap: Temporary parking/roadside parking allowed to drop off bike, passenger vans available to shuttle drivers/fans/volunteers to and from McCutcheon.
